I was working for a Home Health Company in Ft Myers FL and another nurse was threatening me. Told me at a staff meeting she was going to kick my butt. Very agressive and foul language and put her fists up to me and called me a f-n nurse in front of other staff (defemation of character). When to the owner was counseled but kept on doing things to intimidate me and they said this is how she is. I had to quit my job and lost weeks of pay and suffered great stress and anxiety. The HR director walked away from me and he even heard her foul mouth. Can I sue for defamation of character and and loss of wages and mental anguish? Also per the employee handbook it clearly states harassment will not be tolerated and grouds for terminaton. I am also trying to receive 10 hours of vacation pay that they refuse to give me and it states in the employee handbook that if you terminate you will receive this. I have talked to the gentleman in HR and he dosent return my phone calls.
